History
The Deborah Hotel was established in young Tel Aviv in 1964 by Shraga Feibel and Menachem Mendel Knoll. The Knoll family, originally from Galicia, moved to Austria after World War I and after the Nazis rose to power and the events of Kristallnacht fled to Caracas, Venezuela, where they helped establish the Jewish community and themselves as successful businessmen. Twenty years later, the brothers immigrated to Israel and settled in Tel Aviv, where they established the first strictly kosher luxury hotel in the city - the Deborah Hotel, named after their mother.
Upon its construction, the building was considered one of the tallest in Tel Aviv, and even starred in the international magazine TIME.
Architecture & Design
"Harmony of contrasts", the new design of the hotel, described by the architect Prof. Yossi Friedman, who designed the new hotel and inspired by the history of the building and its unique location. "We merged the European classics with New York sophistication. We combined urban elements with details from the world of resorts. The worlds of health, spa and fitness take place in the hotel alongside rich and luxrious dishes. All resulting to a sophisticated, refined and glamorous decadent classic."
